Hitchens on Anna Wintour

Ben just directed me to this YouTube video where some guy runs across Christopher Hitchens on the street and asks him what Anna Wintour was like in the the '70s. It's pretty awesome. I had no idea they'd dated, but this Guardian piece confirms it.

Hey, Donn, I don't know where to put this: do you read any Commentary? The latest issue has an article by Harvey Mansfield, which I think is definitely worth a blogpost.

Hitchens is speaking at Google tomorrow, lol. I am going to try and make it to the talk...I'll let you know how it goes. Until then, you may want to watch this. He's a smart guy, but I think he's just wrong about the war: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=INy2ysHhgYM

Ted, I don't usually read it, but send it along and I'll take a look. Can you e-mail it? If not, just hang onto it and I'll get it next time I see you.

Sirene, that's awesome. Definitely let me know what you think of the talk. And yeah, I agree that he's almost definitely wrong about the war, but he's still a good read. My sense is he wants to be remembered as a George Orwell-type figure, so he's banking on the hope that history will vindicate him and prove his critics wrong. I don't think that will happen, but I'm not a visionary, so who knows.
